Iâm laughing at something stupid that Baine just said, as Reid lifts me out of the water, when a guard standing there waiting for us near where the grass starts, clears his throat.
After Reid sees what Iâm looking at he stops abruptly, followed by the other two men I seem to have ensnared.
âWhatâs wrong?â Asks a visibly worried Baine as he steps forward.
Reid forces a smile. âProbably nothing, theyâre most likely just wondering why we took so long.â
He takes me straight to the seat and hands me my towel and crutches. âYou should go straight to your room and get dry and warm. Maybe have a hot shower, not a bath, please.â Reid raises an eyebrow at me.
âI donât see why not, I had a great time at my last bath.â I snicker at his serious face. âAll right, all right. Gosh, anyone would think I got stuck in there.â
Deep laughter erupts behind me and I stare in astonishment at Salvatore genuinely laughing, I think Iâve broken him.
The guard clears his throat again. âI apologise for the inconvenience but Summerâs required for a meeting.â
âWhat kind of meeting?â Reidâs stern voice makes the other guard look nervous.
He puts his hands up in a defensive move. âLook, Reid, Iâm just doing my job.â Then he seems to think of something. âWhy were you guys in there for so long?â
Baine looks down at his swim shorts. âSwimming you numpty, what does it look like?â Rolling his eyes he walks off, before calling back, âLate for work so Iâll catch you later, bonnie.â
Waving farewell to him, I turn to the other two. âYou guys can head off too, I bet itâs the medical centre again. Anyone would think Iâm dying by the way they carry on.â
âNo, Miss, Blayze wants to see you upstairs.â His statement, a matter of fact.
Salvatore instantly tenses up and comes to my side and Reid goes on to question the guard further, while I just look at where I know the window will be and find myself saying, âThatâs fine, I like Blayze, Iâm sure itâll be nice to catch up.â
All three of the men drop their jaws while I get up, straighten myself and say, âWell, letâs go thenâ
âYou know who Iâm talking about, Miss?â The guard asks me, eyebrows raised.
I smile and nod. âOf course, we go way back. How is the firecracker anyway?â
The guy looks like heâs going to die of a heart attack, I go and pat him on the back. âCome on, youâll be fine, Iâll help you through it.â I guild him away as I look back and wink at my two sexy men before hobbling off.
Wait... MY men. Theyâre just two sexy men, talk about getting cocky, pun intended.
